Tribute to the Hon. Bob Hawke AC

The Hon. Sir James Gobbo AC CVO, founding Chairman, Prof.  Kwong Lee Dow AO, Chairman, the board, Foundation Members, Dr. B. Hass. Dellal AO, Executive Director and staff of the Australian Multicultural Foundation pay tribute to the Foundation’s founding member and former Prime Minister, the Hon. Bob Hawke AC.

In 1988 as a legacy of the Australian Bicentennial the Hon. Bob Hawke, as Prime Minister, supported the establishment of the Australian Multicultural Foundation as one of his commitments to a Multicultural Australia.

A visionary Prime Minister who in 1989 introduced the first National Agenda for a Multicultural Australia. At the launch in 1989 he said “all Australians are equally entitled to enjoy the rights and carry the responsibilities of life in this nation. We are all equally entitled to a fair go, equally entitled to dignity and self-respect, entitled to equal access to the services of government”.

Dr B. Hass Dellal, executive director of Australian Multicultural Foundation said, "His legacies that shaped multicultural Australia will live on for generations to come".
