Congratulations to the 2019 graduates of the Muslim Youth Leadership and Peer Mentoring Program!

Now in its second consecutive year of delivery in partnership between the Australian Multicultural Foundation and the Islamic Council of Victoria, we’d like to extend a warm congratulations to the outstanding graduates of the 2019 Muslim Youth Leadership and Peer Mentorship program.

Thirteen Australian-Muslim participants from a range of culturally diverse backgrounds were selected to partake in a 4-day training program in Melbourne to further engage with the broader community, to express views and thoughts with confidence, to interact with key stakeholders and leaders in the community and further develop their leadership and mentoring skills.

The program included workshops to facilitate thinking and discussions around the difference between leadership and authority, what authentic leadership looks like, how to query and question respectfully, how to prepare, practice and implement a successful mentoring relationship, processes and mechanisms involved in approaching and engaging with media, and a workshop on public speaking and presentation skills.

The accomplishments of the participants were acknowledged at a graduation ceremony at the Islamic Council of Victoria, in which Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Sally Capp, attended to give the keynote address. We congratulate all participants on their fantastic work!
